Elected officials are calling on the Department of Homeland Security to require proof of vaccination to fly on airplanes.
Democratic Rep. Ritchie Torres and Council Member Mark Levine noted that 20% of COIVD cases in New York are from people who have traveled out of state.
Torres also said that in addition to preventing COVID cases from coming in from flights, this proposal would encourage more people to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated.
