A Rikers Island guard got his teeth knocked out after finding two inmates in a restricted area late Saturday night.
That's according to the Correction Officers' Benevolent Association, which says one inmate punched a guard in the face around 11 p.m.
COBA identified the person responsible as a member of the Bloods gang.
President of COBA Benny Boscio Jr. issued a statement that said in part, "Instead of bolstering our officers and giving us the tools we need to keep our facilities safe, most of our elected officials, including most of the candidates running to be our next mayor, have turned their backs on us."
