A teenager is out of the hospital after officials said he was stabbed inside of a Bronx high school on Tuesday.
A family member declined to go on camera but told News 12 that the 15-year-old victim spent hours getting stitches to his face after the teen was stabbed at school.
The FDNY said the incident happened around 1 p.m. Tuesday inside the Astor Collegiate Academy in Pelham Parkway. The victim’s family claimed the ninth grader got into a fight with an 11th grader, and that is when the older student allegedly took out a scalpel and stabbed the victim in his face.
Meanwhile, the city's Department of Education said it will be providing additional emotional support to anyone at the school who needs it.
The victim’s family said they are planning to press charges against the 11th grade student, and they are filing an emergency transfer from the school.
