State officials and transportation groups are set to gather at the Franklin Avenue–Medgar Evers College station and push for a solution to a massive subway system bottleneck issue that is taking place in Crown Heights.

The 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains going through the Nostrand Junction face frequent delays because all four intersect under the Eastern Parkway. This issue has earned it the name “The Crown Heights Cluster."

The MTA has been vocal about wanting to fix the issue. According to their latest assessment, a project to address the problem would cost $410 million.

Their proposal includes building three new cross overs underground to alleviate the subway traffic. They say it would save riders close to two minutes per trip.

State Sen. Zellnor Myrie, Assembly Member Phara Souffrant Forrest and transportation groups are going to meet at around 10 a.m. They say they will demand capital funding in this year's state budget be allocated to fix the cluster.
