Robberies are trending up in New York City just weeks into the new year.
According to officials, there is a 2.5% increase in robberies with a higher amount in the Bronx than Brooklyn.
Most recently in the Bronx, a man is wanted in connection to threatening another man with a knife on Sunday at Grand Concourse and East 170th Street. The suspect forced the victim to hand over $70 before fleeing, police say.
Just days before on Friday, a group of people are accused of robbing a woman of her phone and bank cards after hitting her in the face several times. This incident took place on Sheridan Avenue and Edgewater Road.
Over to Brooklyn on Jan. 18, police believe another group of suspects entered the Dollar Discount party store on 700 Exterior St. and took off with a microwave. Authorities say the security guard tried to stop them, but they punched him in the face before taking off.
