Hundreds of Bronx students received new shoes to start off their school year with a special visit from Olympian Beverly Ramos today.
Rising New York road runners joined Ramos and gave out New Balance sneakers to 200 students at MS 244 to encourage kids to stay active while having some fun. The organization helps out over 100,000 students nationwide and has donated more than 37,000 pairs of shoes to kids in need.
"These moments are key sometimes in any person's life. They'll get a really cool gift today and hopefully this will be something special for them," says Ramos.
Ramos will be running in the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile Sunday. There will also be a field day and running festival for kids.
