One dead in electric scooter, sanitation truck collision in Brooklyn

Police say a person is dead after an electric scooter and DSNY truck collided Tuesday night in Brooklyn.

Police say a person is dead after an electric scooter and DSNY truck collided Tuesday night in Brooklyn.
According to authorities, the electric scooter and sanitation truck were involved in an accident on Ditmas and Rockaway avenues at 7:51 p.m.
Police say the 55-year-old victim riding the scooter was struck by the sanitation truck turning onto Rockaway Avenue. The driver of the scooter was transported to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead.
DSNY released a statement saying, "Our sincerest condolences are with the family of the deceased. We take matters of safety extremely seriously, and are conducting a full investigation into this tragic situation."
No other information has been revealed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
