St. Patrick’s Day arrived early in Fieldston as dozens of people participated in Saturday’s parade.

The event is one of the shortest parades in the city, stretching two blocks – only a quarter-mile long.

Paradegoers stepped off at Broadway-West 251st Street near Van Cortlandt Park and marched up the hill along Fieldston Terrace.

Members of the NYPD, DSNY, MTA and FDNY decked out their vehicles to show support.

Paradegoers said the fun is for people of all ages.

“It’s just a really nice way to connect with the community,” said Don Steele, of Fieldston.“It also feels like, in a lot of ways, the start of spring.”

Parade founder and director John Kelly told News 12 the first parade stepped off in 2019 with just 20 people and grew each year, continuing the celebration through the COVID-19 pandemic.
