New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani arrived in Puerto Rico Thursday for his first big trip since making history on election night - and our senior political reporter Tara Rosenblum caught up with him for one of his first major sit-downs since the big win.

The 34-year-old Democratic Socialist from Queens will soon lead America's largest city and he's already vowing to take on affordability, inequality and a potential showdown with the Trump White House. His ascension also has significant implications for the entire tri-state area.

Mamdani spoke on a variety of topics, including how he plans to turn campaign promises into real policy, what his win means for Democrats heading into the 2026 midterms and how he hopes to govern one of the world's most diverse and divided cities.

Rosenblum was also the first person to get public reaction from him on Rep. Elise Stefanik's plans to run for governor of New York - a few hours before she formally announced it.

Catch the entire interview Sunday on Power and Politics.
