An Ossining hardware store that's been around for decades is the latest to go out of business.
The Ossining Hardware Company has been in business for more than 70 years, but is closing shop on Nov. 20.
"Over the years, more and more people especially with COVID, have gotten used to buying online, and that's sort of eaten into our business," says owner Steve Waugh.
Before it closes, the owners are holding a raffle as a way to say thank you to the community. Prizes include a GoPro camera and a flat-screen television.
"I like to think of it as sort of a New Orleans funeral. We don't want to go out with sadness, we want to go out with the band playing," says Waugh.
Waugh is taking that happy tune into retirement.
"I bought my ski pass for the winter and I'm ready to go," he says.
The three remaining employees at Ossining Hardware have already found work at other hardware stores.
