There were close to 1,700 outages across the city Wednesday as the hot weather continues to impact New York City communities. Con Edison says most of the outages are due to increased power usage.
Brooklyn took some of the worst hits with more than 500 homes out in the Clinton Hill area, nearly 300 in Crown Heights on Bergen Street and around 250 in New Lots.
Around 80 homes on St. Lawrence Avenue in the Bronx were without power.
Con Edison says the outages are most likely heat-related. People are using more power to cool down their homes, which puts stress on the equipment. Over 12,000 megawatts of power were being used as of Tuesday, which is the highest amount this summer.
