The borough's Pakistani community is celebrating the country's independence. 
A ceremony at Bronx Park East Sunday kicked off a month of festivities to mark 68 years since Pakistan broke away from the British parliament back in 1947. 
Organizers of the commemoration say it's about preserving Muslim and Pakistani culture for future generations. 
Pakistani Independence Day is officially observed on Aug. 14
