Parents gathered outside the United Federations of Teachers building Thursday to protest any potential vaccine mandates for children ages five to 11. 

Parents placed shoes in front of the building to denounce any mandates that would require all school-aged children to be vaccinated. 

They say each pair of shoes represents a child who will be pulled out of by their parent if a mandate goes into effect. 

Activists say they are planning a march up to Albany next month to protest a potential mandate.
