Some parents and education advocates are reportedly not happy with the state Department of Education.
According to a Daily News report, some Bronx students will head back to school next week without knowing their state test exam results. Students in grades three though eight were tested on math and reading skills in January and March of this year. The Daily News reports the exam results won?t be available until between September 14 and September 28.
State educators defend the delays saying it is their first time administering the tests. Educators also promised a quicker turnaround next year. However, parents and education advocates believe the test will be useless once the results are finally in. Some even worry students who were supposed to be left back will be bumped up to the next grade level without getting the help they need.
When the grades are finally released, school will receive the information electronically. Parents will also get reports explaining how their child fared.
