Parents voice concerns over lack of social distancing, overcrowding in public school halls

Parents are voicing their concerns about lack of social distancing at many public schools, including in overcrowded hallways.
A parent shared a video with News 12 that shows the packed hallways of Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn.
They say they have seen multiple similar images from other high schools in the city.
Parents are asking for more to be done to address overcrowding, which they say was already an issue before the pandemic.
Parents say the city must conduct more testing and set up a remote option in case outbreaks become more common.
A spokesperson from the Department of Education released a statement to News 12 saying, "We opened our schools safely this year by repurposing interior space, hiring additional staff, staggering student schedules, using outside space, and adding increased ventilation and additional air purifiers."
