If you're heading to one of the state parks this holiday weekend, you may be able to take the bus there for free.
Gov. Ned Lamont is expected to be at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport Friday to talk about the program, Park ConneCT. It's a collaboration between the Department of Transportation and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
Officials say the program aims to provide safe and reliable transportation within a 10-minute walk to Sherwood Island, Silver Stands, Indian Well, Sleeping Giant, Hammonasset Beach, Fort Trumbull and Osbornedale state parks.
The Park ConneCT pilot program will run through Labor Day Weekend. This is the second season the state is offering the Park ConneCT program.
Officials say you can catch the bus from a number of train stations and other convenient locations.
