A popular Park Slope bar and restaurant says it will be closing its doors at the end of the month.
Sidecar owner Bart DeCoursey says he wants these last few weeks to be like an "Irish wake" - with as many people coming in for one last meal and drink together.
DeCoursey says finances had been tough even before the pandemic hit and the last few years have been a fight for survival.
He tells News 12 that while the PPP loan helped out for a while, every new wave of COVID-19 cases set the bar back.
Sidecar did qualify for the Restaurant Revitalization fund, but DeCoursey says despite applying on the first day - the bar didn't receive any money.
He says if he kept the bar open, he'd need to start a GoFundMe to be able to pay his staff - which is something he already had to do once.
DeCoursey says after the doors are shut, he's planning to do some remodeling and hopes to reopen as just a bar with less overhead costs.
