A section of Saw Mill Road in North Haledon has remained closed for two weeks after heavy rainfall severely damaged the roadway, according to police.

The closure affects Saw Mill Road between Stockton Road and Indian Trail. Police first announced the closure on July 21 after heavy rain made the road unsafe for drivers.

Today, the roadway remains compromised, with visible damage preventing it from reopening.

The North Haledon Police Department said the damaged section would remain closed until it could be assessed by the borough engineer.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and follow posted detours while the closure remains in effect.

Mayor Randy George of North Haledon tells News 12 the borough is getting quotes and hope to have it done before the end of August.
