Police at the 48th Precinct are questioning a person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of a livery cab driver in Belmont, according to police sources.
Police say they found Mamadou Barry dead in his green Lincoln Town Car on Beaumont Avenue early Monday morning. They say the 39-year-old was shot in the head by his passenger, and then crashed into a hair salon. The suspect then fled down Crotona Avenue toward East 187th Street.
Police say the man being questioned has two priors. He was picked up in an apartment Tuesday night by the NYPD's Bronx Violent Felony Squad.
Authorities had said that they were searching for a man with a thin build and medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and light-colored shorts.
Barry is survived by his wife and three children.
