Small Business Saturday is this week, and News 12 is highlighting some small local businesses you can check out.
Today, we're introducing you to a place where you can take a step back from your busy life and learn tools to get out of your head.
Peace in Piermont is a yoga studio where the whole family can learn the art of mindfulness and how to de-stress. "In our go--go-go, Amazon Prime, next day, very fast-moving, kind of paced world - I think we have been very much ahead and really on top of being here now and teaching children, teaching adults teaching humans how to just breathe and be in the moment and de-stress," says owner Katie Stoeckeler.
Stoeckeler first began teaching yoga out her living room four years ago! Her business rapidly grew, and the following year, she opened up shop on Piermont Avenue.
Like many businesses, she encountered some struggles when the pandemic hit. “That was extremely challenging because we did more online. We did offer things on Zoom, but I still have a lot of resistance toward offering it on that platform. Especially for kids because they deeply need to disconnect," says Stoeckeler.
Stoeckeler is also a published author, and has three books all about mindfulness.
On Small Business Saturday, there are deals like a free copy of one of her books if you buy a $50 gift certificate
And starting today, they're offering a day program for kids! Parents can drop off their kids in order to could get last minute holiday preparations done. The day program will also be offered Friday and half of the day on Saturday.
