A Bronx woman says a pit bull attacked and killed her dog inside her Jerome Avenue building.
Police have labeled the incident an accident, but the woman and some other neighbors say the pit bull is notorious in the building.
The victim did not identify herself to News 12, but says she had just returned from walking her dog when the pit bull got loose and attacked.
She says her daughter tried to break up the scuffle, but the pit bull then bit her on the hand. Within seconds, the woman says, her dog was dead.
The daughter was treated at Montefiore Medical Center for bite wounds and is expected to be OK, according to the woman.
Police say the pit bull has been taken into ASPCA custody for evaluation.
