A baseball field in the Bronx was flooded with the color pink Sunday for a good cause.
Scott Elson, the owner of Tony and Val's Pizzeria on Broadway, organized a breast cancer awareness event, inviting St. Barnabas Hospital's mobile mammogram unit to set up outside his restaurant across the street from the field.
A breast cancer survivor threw out the first pitch of Van Cortland Park's Little League game as well.
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women are affected by the disease.
Elson says he hopes at least 100 women take advantage of the free screening. He also says he wants to raise more than $1,000 for the American Cancer Society of Bronx County.
