? Backers for the new Yankee Stadium got another green light from the Department of City Planning.
The agency voted 12-1 Wednesday in favor of construction in the Bronx. Supporters of the new stadium say the project will create jobs and improve parks. Critics worry construction will pollute the air and cause excessive development in the area. The plan now goes to the City Council for its approval.
The Save Our Parks Coalition plans to protest the stadium Thursday, saying public parklands will be used for private use.
