Police: 13-year-old boy sexually assaulted by stranger overnight

The child was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and is expected to be physically OK.

Police say a 13-year-old boy was sexually assaulted overnight by a man who was a stranger.

The incident happened at 11:40 p.m. inside of one of the Sotomayor Houses in Soundview. The NYPD's Special Victims Unit is now taking over the case.

The child was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and is expected to be physically OK.

The suspect is still out there, and police are asking for the public's help to bring him forward. They say he was last seen wearing a gray tank top and black jeans.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577 TIPS.
