Two people were fatally shot and another injured after a murder and attempted suicide inside of an apartment building in the Bronx, police say.
The incident happened Wednesday on the 11th floor of an apartment building at the corner of East 174th Street and Croes Avenue, police say.
Susan Trivino, 54, and her 29-year-old daughter, Sugeiry Guzman were both shot and killed.
Officials say the shooter, Jorge Vega, 52, was also injured after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and remains in very critical condition at Jacobi Medical Center.
The victims’ family says Vega had a tumultuous relationship with Trivino, and that he was battling alcoholism.
They say Trivino's mother had asked her to leave Vega, but she would not listen.
Trivino was pronounced dead at the scene. Guzman was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where she later died.
A 1-year-old child was also found crawling on the floor of the apartment and was taken away from the scene by police.
The child, believed to be the granddaughter of Trivino, was not injured during the shooting. The Administration for Children's Services is working with the NYPD in the case.
Published reports suggest Trivino and Vega both met while working as MTA bus drivers.
