Police: 2 men hospitalized after shooting in Fordham near day care center
Police say two men were shot and hospitalized in Fordham Monday afternoon.
They say an unknown male came up to the two men and shot them around 3 p.m. in front of 2071 Walton Ave.
A 31-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 28-year-old man was shot once in the arm and once in the leg. They were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and are expected to recover.
The shooting appears to have happened near Sister Sister Colorful Day Care Center.
A parent rushed to pick up her child after the incident. Police let her under the police tape and she left with her child in a stroller.
Officers say a suspect was seen fleeing from the scene on foot, and the investigation is ongoing.
The NYPD confirms there have officially been 1,000 shootings in the city in 2020.
