Police say a 3-year-old girl was shot in Brownsville while leaving day care Friday night. 
Officials say they received a call at around 6:00 p.m. for shots fire and reports of a male shot. 
Officers arrived on the scene and found a 3-year-old girl shot in the shoulder. Police say officers bandaged her shoulder and put her in the police car and brought her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Brookdale for treatment. 
She is in stable condition, according to police. This is the third child injured by gunfire in our city, according to police. 
Police say the father was picking her up at day care when it happened. 
Police say they are searching for one suspect in connection to the shooting. They say the shooter was on foot. 
It’s not clear who he was shooting at, but he was not shooting at the girl or her father, according to police. 
About five shots were fired, according to police.
