A 16-year-old is among four people who were injured in a quadruple shooting in Brownsville Sunday night, according to police.
The victims' ages range from a 16-year-old who was shot in the head, a 34-year-old grazed in the back, a 59-year-old grazed in the leg and a 24-year-old shot in the abdomen. Investigators say all of those victims were taken to hospitals in stable condition.
Police say they believe the 34-year-old and 59-year-old were bystanders.
The 16-year-old and 24-year-old shot were involved in a confrontation in front of 265 Livonia Ave. around 8 p.m.
Lateeka Richardson, the mother of the 16-year-old Jeffrey Thomas, says she wants to clear her son’s name after investigators say he may have been part of an assault that happened prior to the shooting.
"Has nothing to do with my son. They have the information wrong," she claims. "He asked me for $2 to go to the store to get a soda. He never made it in the store."
Data shows more than 700 shootings so far this year. Brownsville residents are pleading for people to put the guns down.
At this hour, no arrests have been made.
