A 56-year-old man was fatally shot Monday in Belmont, police say.
Police tell News 12 they got a call about a man shot in front of 717 E 187th St. just before 6:30 p.m.
When they arrived the 56-year- old man was on the ground unconscious with a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he died from his injuries.
The identity of the man has not yet been released.
The corner of E. 187th Street and Crotona Avenue in front of the bodega was blocked off as police investigate.
