A 7-year-old Bronx child is dead and police say they are questioning the mother.
Police say the cause of death has not been determined at this time. They say it happened at the Mitchell Houses.
The 7-year-old girl was identified by police as Julissa Battles.
Neighbors tell News 12 it happened on the 10th floor. Jordan Suggs says that around 8 a.m. the mother was frantically knocking on neighbors' doors because she said her daughter was unconscious.
Suggs tells News 12 his mother went to help and that the woman's daughter was laying on the floor. Suggs says the mother then went hospital with her daughter.
He says it wasn’t apparent to his mother why the child was unconscious, but that they learned she had been throwing up prior.
Battles was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln.
Police say the medical examiner will determine the cause of the child's death.
