Police: 87-year-old man stabbed in Morris Park

Police are investigating the stabbing of an elderly man in Morris Park on Sunday. The stabbing occurred at 2157 Holland Ave. just before 9 a.m. Sources say the fight may have started over a debt.

Police are investigating the stabbing of an elderly man in Morris Park on Sunday.
The stabbing occurred at 2157 Holland Ave. just before 9 a.m.
Sources say the fight may have started over a debt. They say 87-year-old victim was expecting 57-year-old Daniel Maris to pay him back, but when Maris showed up, police say he stabbed the elderly man in the stomach with a kitchen knife.
The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in critical, but stable condition.
Maris was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
