Police: Arrest made in 2021 fatal shooting of Mott Haven teen

According to police, Carlos Melendez, 34, is now facing multiple charges, including murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say an arrest has been made after a four-year investigation into a shooting that killed an 18-year-old at a NYCHA complex in Mott Haven.

According to police, Carlos Melendez, 34, is now facing multiple charges, including murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

As News 12 has reported, on Jan. 10, 2021, Joseph Ozuna, 18, was found with gunshot wounds to his head and neck outside the Mitchel Houses on Alexander Avenue where he lived.

Ozuna was taken to the hospital where he died.
