The NYPD has arrested and charged a suspect they believe is responsible for fatally slashing an L train passenger.
Police escorted the suspect, 43-year-old Alvin Charles, outside the 73rd Precinct Wednesday night. They say that Charles currently faces murder charges.
According to officials, Charles was on the mezzanine level of the Atlantic Avenue subway station and was verbally disrespecting NYPD officers on patrol when 43-year-old victim Tommy Bailey told him to stop.
The argument turned from verbal to physical once they boarded a southbound L train at approximately 9 p.m. last Friday.
Bailey was pronounced dead at Brookdale after suffering a slash wound to his neck.
If convicted, Charles could spend up to 25 years in prison.
