Police say they believe they have arrested the man responsible in a 2014 murder.
Officials took 51-year-old Antonio Gonzales into custody Saturday, who they believe is responsible for stabbing 53-year-old Cynthia Taylor to death.
Officers responding to a wellness check in December of 2014 on East Clarke Place say they found Taylor unconscious and unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to her torso.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Her neighbors say she lived alone and had two grown children.
Taylor's son Aaron told News 12 The Bronx that he was happy an arrest was made.
"I got a phone call from my cousin and I just couldn't stop smiling. My face just lit up and I was all smiles and it just felt good," says Taylor.
At the time of his mother's killing, Aaron Talyor was off at boot camp for the Marines. Now, he just wants to forgive and continue to move forward.
"As people, we all make mistakes. We all do things we shouldn't do. Some actions that we take are a bit far in that regard. But, I would tell him I don't hate him," he told News 12.
Gonzalez is facing manslaughter and murder charges.
