Police say a man linked to the fatal 2019 car crash which killed two people, including a 22-year-old city correction officer, is now in their custody.
After a more than a five-year search, police say they finally found the man who caused so much pain on the Cross Bronx Expressway. The suspect was identified as Anyelo Velez Rodriguez and he was charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
Police say Rodriguez was arrested Tuesday afternoon for a fatal multi-vehicle crash that happened back in February of 2019. According to authorities, multiple people were injured in that chain reaction crash. One of them died on the scene. Another named Richard Lue, a resident of Morris Heights, died a week later after being on life support.
His family told News 12 he once played basketball at Bronx Community College and was a city corrections officer.
