New Milford police say the body of an 18-year-old high school student was pulled from Hard Castle Pond Friday night.

They say officers responded to a 911 call at 7:15 p.m. for a man who went swimming in the pond and didn't resurface.

Police were at first unable to locate the person.

The New Milford Fire Department and water search and rescue teams responded to help with the search.

Around 10 p.m., search teams located the body of the deceased person inside the water.

The 18-year-old male was a student at New Milford High School.

The Medical Examiner's Office is determining the cause of death.
