Police say a Bridgeport man is accused of shooting his cousin in the legs and stealing his money.

Authorities say George Mercer contacted his cousin to advise him that he had located his vehicle that was reported stolen. Mercer told his cousin to meet him with $1,000 for services rendered.

Police say when the two met on Union Avenue, Mercer pulled out a handgun, demanded money and shot his cousin in the legs.

Mercer allegedly took the money and fled. He was then pulled over by police and arrested.
