Multiple streets were blocked off in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx after a car crashed into a scaffolding, according to police.
The NYPD blocked off the area around East 176th Street and Townsend Avenue Monday morning, where a scaffolding came tumbling down. Neighbors in the area told News 12 they heard a loud bang at around 2 a.m. when a car crashed into the structure.
Officers arrived shortly after and found pieces of wood and metal scattered across the street due to the incident. The vehicle that struck the scaffolding has been removed.
The Department of Buildings told News 12 they have issued a partial vacate order to the building's commercial areas until the debris has been cleared.
No information has been revealed on the driver at this time.
