A man was arrested in Inwood after police say he broke into his neighbor's home and assaulted an officer.

Nassau County police received a 911 call for a break-in early Saturday morning at a home on Church Street, the same street the suspect lives on.

When officers arrived, they say 41-year-old Oseguera-Umanzor Walther tried to get away by smashing a bedroom window.

Louis Gutierrez lives in the home where the break-in happened. He says his sister-in-law also lives there and Walther is her estranged husband, who is staying with family across the street.

"She and her husband got into an altercation. They called police... they came inside. They tazed him and he was trying to get out through the window and there was a chase," Gutierrez said before the officers caught Walther in the backyard.

"It just looked like he was drunk. He wasn't all the way there. He definitely was doing some kind of drugs," Gutierrez added.

One officer was injured because police say Walther was combative while resisting arrest.

According to police, Walther was arrested and released without bail in Nassau County four times over the last three months.

He’s faced multiple charges before, including criminal possession of a weapon, robbery, harassment and obstruction of breathing.

He also has an active warrant out of Texas for obstruction of breathing and assault.

Police say Walther violated an active, full stay-away order of protection.

Walther went before a judge Sunday for multiple charges, including assault, burglary, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution said Walther's wife is fearful because his jealousy and violence have increased in recent months.

The judge entered another order of protection.

Bail was set at $100,000 cash and bond was posted at $200,000.

Walther's next court date is Oct. 12.
