Police say a man was arrested for making a terroristic threat in a movie theater at the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park Friday night.
Officers say Luiz Perez, of Bay Shore, was inside theater 10 around 11 p.m. when he put on a ski mask and told some young people behind him that he had a gun. They say he put his hands in his pockets and people ran out of the theater via the emergency exits.
An off-duty Lloyd Harbor Police officer was in the theater and detained the 55-year-old Perez until security arrived.
A search of the suspect and of the theater later on did not find any weapons. This threat comes after police said last month that a shopper at the same shopping center was hit by a pellet from an airsoft gun.
Perez was charged with making a terroristic threat and was let go put on supervised release. He is due back in court on March 24.
