A man is accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend in Unionport Sunday night.
Police confirmed Monday that they have taken 29-year-old Jean Carlos Jimenez into custody. Investigators say he started his attacks on Gleason Avenue, stabbing his father and his brother.
Officers say it did not end there and that the alleged attacker then made his way across the Bruckner Expressway to Ellis Avenue and stabbed his 29-year-old girlfriend, Mercy Capacette, multiple times around 7:30 p.m.
Neighbors throughout the building say they heard her screams and police tell News 12 the victim tried to get away but was only able to make it down one flight.
First responders found the victim in the hallway of the third floor and rushed her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi where she was pronounced dead.
The victim's best friend tells News 12 she leaves behind a son.
News 12 is told the suspect's father and brother are expected to recover. Police say Jimenez has been charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, five counts of assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.
