Police say a man is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning in Melrose.

According to the NYPD, the incident took place just before 2 a.m. at East 149th Street and Morris Avenue.

First responders rushed the 61-year-old man to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say the driver remained at the scene.
