Police say a 27-year-old man was shot outside Breukelen Houses at 9:15 a.m. Monday.
The man was shot in the chest and arm on the 5th floor at 543 E 108th Street after a dispute broke out inside the building, according to the NYPD.
Officials say he was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he is expected to survive.
Angel King, president of the Breukelen Resident Community Council, says she was outside briefing participants of the summer youth program on the day’s plan when they heard the gunshot.
“I can’t believe that this is something that just keeps happening in our community over and over,” said King. “When are we going to get tired of seeing the bodies, when are we going to get tired of the gunshots,  when are we going to get tired of saying rest in peace… I can't even gather the words to say anything else."
Police say no arrests have been made. This incident comes just 24 hours after a 44-year-old was fatally shot a few blocks away.
