Police: Man trying to help other man being assaulted killed after being struck by train

Police are asking for the public's help after an alleged gang assault at a Bronx subway station on New Year's Day left a man dead.

Police are asking for the public's help after an alleged gang assault at a Bronx subway station on New Year's Day left a man dead.
They tell News 12 the group walked up to a 38-year-old man just before 3 a.m., took out a knife and began assaulting him - causing him to fall off the platform and onto the tracks as a train was approaching.
Police say another man jumped on the tracks at the Fordham Road station to try to help the man being attacked - but was then struck by a train.
They say the man he was trying to help did survive and he was taken to the hospital for a fractured arm.
