Police say a man broke into locked lockers at multiple gyms and stole items, including wallets. The most recent break-ins happened at a Blink Fitness on East Tremont Avenue, a Planet Fitness on Southern Boulevard and another Planet Fitness on E. Gun Hill Road. A gym member said items were stolen from a locker at the Planet Fitness in Pelham Gardens a couple months ago, separate from the recent break-ins. Planet Fitness members tell News 12 they aren't surprised this happened because the lockers are not secure. "You put the master lock through it. But the door still opens, so the lock is useless," said Richard, a gym member. He says this has been an issue for a while. "I brought it to their attention. And I know will be a lot of money to get new lockers in, but it has to be done," said Richard. News 12 reached out to Planet Fitness about the break-ins, and in a statement, it said it encourages members to use a secure locker and report anything to the front desk.
