A mom allegedly launched her son's stroller down a flight of subway stairs Thursday in Melrose, according to police.
They say witnesses saw the 26-year-old Jessica Mixon toss her 2-year-old son near E.149th St. and the Grand Concourse around 3:15 p.m.
Officials say the boy was taken to Lincoln Hospital with a laceration to the face, but he is in stable condition. They say Mixon was taken to Bronxdale Hospital for evaluation.
"She was at the top, and she just went, 'Whooo,' all the way down," a witness told News 12. "For a mother to do it, she must have been under a hell of a lot of pressure. She was cursing a lot."
The witness said that the mother stood at the top of the steps, apparently unconcerned, as good Samaritans came to her bloodied son's aid.
"He busted his head and his eye, and his nose was bleeding," the witness said. "Blood was coming out his mouth, the back of his head was bleeding."
Mixon, who lives on Undercliff Avenue, faces five felony charges, including three counts of assault, one of reckless endangerment and one of abandonment of a child.
