The new year got off to a bizarre start for some drivers when a naked man began punching cars in the middle of the New York State Thruway.

Police say a man parked his car in the center of the parkway, got out without his clothes on, and began punching cars on the road.

Officers quickly responded to the area near Exit 15 in Airmont.

The man was arrested and taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation,
