Officials have released police body camera video showing officers rescuing a dog from a burning home in Egg Harbor Township earlier this week.

First responders were called to 207 Laguna Drive on March 2 after a neighbor called 911 to report smoke coming from the house.

Officers Darren Dewitt and Chris Wagner kicked in the door after they were unable to get in touch with the homeowners. They searched the home to make sure no one was inside and even rescued the family dog.

A firefighter was injured while battling the fire. That firefighter was expected to be OK.

Officials say the fire was likely caused by a heating unit in the home’s attic.
