Police released the identity of a 21-year-old man who was fatally shot in the head in Belmont.
The NYPD says Axl Ortiz was shot on the sidewalk in front of his home on East 187th Street just before 7 p.m. Monday.
News 12 obtained surveillance video of the violent incident. The footage shows Ortiz standing on the sidewalk when the gunman approaches from behind and opens fire.
First responders rushed to the scene where the 21-year-old's hat was left lying on the sidewalk, surrounded by crime scene tape.
Additional footage captured paramedics attempting to save Ortiz's life.
Police say the 21-year-old was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died.
The NYPD has not released information about what sparked the violence.
No arrests have been made as of Wednesday evening.
