The suspect in Tuesday morning's robbery of an armored truck fled in a dark-red Honda Accord, according to police.
The NYPD released a photograph of the suspected vehicle Wednesday. It's a four-door sedan with tinted windows. They also say the suspect was wearing a suit during the robbery.
Police say he opened fire on the armored truck around 10 a.m. Tuesday, stealing $78,000, but injuring no one on Westchester Avenue. They say the suspect escaped with two bags of money from the Rapid Armored truck.
The incident occurred outside EG Money Service at 1471 Westchester Ave. Police say two workers were putting money inside the vehicle when a man approached them with a gun and demanded the cash.
When the victims refused, police say the suspect started firing at them. Witnesses tell News 12 that they heard at least a dozen shots fired. Surveillance video shows people fleeing the scene after shots ring out.
The owner of EG Money Service says this is the first such incident in his eight years in business.
The incident marks the second armored truck robbery in as many weeks on Westchester Avenue.
Rapid Armor Corporation has not yet responded to a News 12 request for comment. The earlier attack targeted a different company.
Police want anyone with information on the heist to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
